Val Venis Released
Val Venis Released
After 11 years in the company, Val Venis' tenure in WWE has finally come to an end.
Walk out the door...
It comes as no surprise that WWE constantly release a horde of superstars, so that they can make room for new up-and-coming wrestlers.
Every time a superstar (or superstars) are rumoured to be released, Val Venis (real name Sean Morley) constantly gets brought up in these discussions.
But somehow and someway, Val always finds a way to keep his job.
The two time former WWE Intercontinental Champion, wasn't so lucky this time around.
As of Friday (9th January 2009), WWE officially released Val Venis from his contract.
Model Employee
People often seem confused, even somewhat puzzled, as to why Val Venis manages to keep his job time after time, but the reason is incredibly simple.
Val Venis was a model employee.
The guy was reliable. He showed up for work on time. He doesn't get arrested, and he doesn't fail drug tests.
There's a lot to be said about a guy that a company can rely on and not have to worry about.
He might not have made a ton of money for WWE, but he did his job and did it well.
What's Next for the Big Valbowski?
While Val Venis wasn't book as a main event superstar he does have one thing going for him.
Val Venis had one of the most entertaining characters during the Attitude Era.
That says a lot when you look back and consider how many entertaining characters were roaming around WWE back then.
There's enough name credit with Val Venis that should allow him to make a good amount of money on the independent wrestling circuit.
Hello TNA Ladies!
Of course, you can't have a WWE release without discussing whether or not TNA is a possible destination.
Val Venis actually has a good chance at being signed by TNA.
Fans around the globe have already started spreading rumours of him joining TNA.
If he does indeed get signed, he's not going to be brought in as a main event wrestler; he'll more than likely be an upper midcard wrestler.
There's also the chance that Val Venis could drop his in-ring gimmick and start up a wrestling school to train future wrestlers for WWE.
Last Thoughts
Val Venis was one of the many iconic wrestlers that helped define the Attitude Era. Many believed he should have been fired a long time ago, yet he remained in the company.
It's sad to see him go, but in fairness, it was a move that WWE felt was necessary.
